{"id":642,"date":"2018-10-03T21:01:53","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T01:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ancientislands.org\/conservation\/?p=642"},"modified":"2018-10-03T21:01:53","modified_gmt":"2018-10-04T01:01:53","slug":"september-in-much-of-region-hottest-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientislands.org\/?p=642","title":{"rendered":"September In Much Of Region Hottest Ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you felt you were sweating more than usual last month, you weren&#8217;t imagining things.\n<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/media\/tbw\/topnews\/Sept2018_final.pdf\">National Weather Service<\/a> reports September  temperature records were broken in Arcadia, Lakeland and Winter Haven.\n<\/p>\n<p>Average temperatures were 2 to 3 degrees Fahrentheit above the long-term average for the month.\n<\/p>\n<p>Arcadia records date to 1899.Lakeland records date to 1915. Winter Haven records date to 1941.\n<\/p>\n<p>Wauchula posted the third hottest September.\n<\/p>\n<p>Two other sites in the region, Bartow and Archbold Biological Station, posted the fourth hottest September.\n<\/p>\n<p>The temperatures were not surprising in a way because rainfall was well below average in all locations.\n<\/p>\n<p>River flows in the Peace River, which is heavily dependent on rainfall, reflect the recent lack of rainfall.\n<\/p>\n<p>River levels in the Upper Peace river have dropped as much as four feet in the past week.\n<\/p>\n<p> \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you felt you were sweating more than usual last month, you weren&#8217;t imagining things.
