Comments should be directed to <a href=\"mailto:Samantha.Browne@FloridaDEP.gov\"><span style=\"color:#1e476b; font-family:Times New Roman\"><strong>Samantha.Browne@FloridaDEP.gov<\/strong><\/span><\/a> .\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Some of the highlights of the proposal include:\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Proposing land or water trails that provide important links to conservation lands, historic sites or other destinations.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Connecting existing trails to provide some longer, multi-day trail experiences.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Securing funding \u2013the Office of Greenways and Trails has received no state funding from the Florida Forever program since 2010\u2014to develop new trails.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Develop a marketing program to make the public and tourists more aware of the trail system&#8217;s recreational opportunities.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Providing technical help to small and rural communities to develop local trail systems.\n<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, visit a new trail or a new trail section and get to know what the system has to offer.\n<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the Florida hiking, bicycling and paddling trails, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/floridadep.gov\/parks\/ogt\/content\/florida-greenways-and-trails-system-plan-and-maps\">this site.<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida&#8217;s Office of Greenways and Trails is seeking comments on its latest draft plan to fund, expand and promote the state&#8217;s trail system.
