Since Polk County filed suit last fall to put a halt to waste shipments to an alleged soil manufacturing site called BS Ranch & Farm on the outskirts of Lakeland , the case has continued unresolved.
Polk County alleges that what was once advertised as an operation to turn various wastes such as septic tank and sewer plant wastes into marketable products is instead a waste dump. By the way, as the legal process oozes toward some sort of resolution, the flow of waste to the BS Ranch facility continues.
After failing to get the case dismissed earlier this year., the defendants are due at some point to sit for depositions.
The central questions involve:
–Whether BS Ranch was still accepting waste even though the Florida Department of Enviornmental Protection told the corporation late last year that it did not intend to renew its industrial waste permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
–Whether BS Ranch has succeeded in removing a significant amount of waste off the property to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
–What BS Ranch plans to do to correct the problems laid out in Polk County’s suit and how long it would take them to accomplish that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, hearings are set for Nov. 18 on the case to hear arguments by the county to enforce its proposed injunction and by BS Ranch to drop the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
